font-size: 16px;\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-bodycopy clearfix\">\n<div class=\"ssba ssba-wrap\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/hurricane-harvey-aftermath-100000-homes-destroyed-a-million-vehicles-ruined-and-bottled-water-being-priced-at-99-a-case\/hurricane-harvey-aftermath-public-domain\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12786\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12786\" src=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-460x345.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-460x345.jpg 460w, http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-425x319.jpg 425w, http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Hurricane-Harvey-Aftermath-Public-Domain.jpg 800w\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a>It is now being estimated that the total amount of economic damage caused by Hurricane Harvey will be somewhere in the neighborhood of <a title=\"190 billion dollars\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/storyline\/hurricane-harvey\/how-many-billions-damage-will-harvey-cost-s-anyone-s-n797521\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">190 billion dollars<\/a>.\u00a0 It is a disaster unlike anything that we have ever seen before <a title=\"in all of U.S. history\" href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/unprecedented-disaster-hurricane-harvey-has-shattered-the-rainfall-record-for-the-continental-united-states\">in all of U.S. history<\/a>, and federal officials are already admitting that they are literally going to be dealing with the aftermath of this storm for \u201cyears\u201d.\u00a0 At this point, more than <a title=\"100,000 homes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/white-houses-bossert-says-100000-homes-damaged-by-harvey-2017-08-31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100,000 homes<\/a> have been destroyed, <a title=\"\u201cup to one million vehicles\u201d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/cars\/2017\/08\/31\/hurricane-harvey-cars\/619785001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cup to one million vehicles\u201d<\/a> have been ruined, and many retailers have already been caught engaging in extreme price gouging.\u00a0 But this could be just the beginning, because this storm has already rendered many areas along the Gulf coast <a title=\"\u201cuninhabitable\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/hurricane-harvey-will-render-some-parts-of-texas-uninhabitable-for-an-extended-period-of-time\">\u201cuninhabitable\u201d<\/a> for an extended period of time, and as you will see at the end of this article another hurricane may be arriving early next month.<\/p>\n<p>What we just witnessed in Houston is being called <a title=\"\u201ca 1,000-year-flood\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-4840664\/Harvey-death-toll-rise-grim-search-bodies-begins.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ca 1,000-year-flood\u201d<\/a>, and many basic necessities are now in extremely short supply.\u00a0 So of course it was inevitable that this would lead to price gouging, and this is reportedly even happening at some of the largest retail chains.\u00a0 For example, at one Best Buy store cases of bottled water were being sold <a title=\"for 42 dollars\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-4841376\/Nearly-700-complaints-price-gouging-Harvey.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for 42 dollars<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On Friday, a Twitter user shared a picture of cases of bottled water being sold at a Best Buy in Houston.
