Hurricane Harvey Will Render Some Parts Of Texas \u2018Uninhabitable For An Extended Period Of Time\u2019<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>Do you remember what Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans?\u00a0 Well, now we are watching the same thing happen to southeast Texas.\u00a0 On Friday, Hurricane Harvey made landfall as a category 4 hurricane.\u00a0 It is the first hurricane to make landfall in the United States in 12 years, and it is the most powerful storm to hit the state of Texas in at least 50 years.\u00a0 One meteorologist is saying that what we are witnessing is \u201cworse than the worst-case scenario for Houston\u201d<\/a>, and another stated that this storm \u201ccould easily be one of the worst flooding disasters in U.S. history\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It would be difficult to overstate the devastation in the Houston area at this moment.\u00a0 Hurricane Harvey has ripped roofs off of homes, turned vehicles over and snapped thousands of trees.\u00a0 Thousands have been rescued from their homes and vehicles, and it is being reported that so far five people have died.\u00a0 In fact, one woman\u2019s dead body was actually spotted floating down the street<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, over 24 inches of rain fell in Houston in just a 24 hour period.\u00a0 More rain continues to fall in southeast Texas, and meteorologists are running out of adjectives<\/a> to describe the nightmare that is currently unfolding\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s catastrophic, unprecedented, epic \u2014 whatever adjective you want to use,\u201d <\/strong>Patrick Blood, a National Weather Service meteorologist, told the Chronicle<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty horrible right now.\u201d <\/strong>The newspaper reported the weather service said five people have died in the Houston area in unconfirmed flood-related deaths.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The latest forecasts are telling us that we could see a total of 40 to 50 inches of rain in southeast Texas by Thursday, and so some areas will actually receive a \u201cyear\u2019s worth of rain\u201d<\/a> in less than a week\u2026<\/p>\n
