When The Grid Goes Down…<\/a><\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s just say that the unthinkable becomes the real and happening.\u00a0<\/strong> Let\u2019s take this article and go over it.\u00a0 This will be a segment in three parts, the next ones being immediate actions taken at work and at home.\u00a0 I\u2019m hitting on traveling first, as there are so many vacationers jaunting around happily over the landscape.\u00a0 All kidding aside, traffic is congested during the summer, extending traveling time on the commutes.\u00a0 Let\u2019s game the scenario, and here it is.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the scenario:<\/h3>\n
\n

You\u2019re cruising down the highway in your 2013 four-door sedan, having just dropped the kids off twenty minutes ago to the swim club.\u00a0 Now you\u2019re on the open highway with a heavy traffic flow\u2026about 5 miles from the edge of town and 7 miles from work.\u00a0 You\u2019re listening to the radio, when suddenly it crackles and goes dead, along with your engine.\u00a0 You look around and pumping the brakes manage to slow down and then drive off the road onto the shoulder, just feet away from the back bumper of another vehicle.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The vehicle comes to a stop, and you try the ignition again.\u00a0 You look at your watch, a Casio G-Shock, to find there is no display.\u00a0 You reach for your cell phone.\u00a0 Nothing.\u00a0 It\u2019s dead.\u00a0 There are perhaps a dozen cars around you\u2026half to your front and half to your rear.\u00a0 All of them have stopped, and most of the drivers have gotten out.\u00a0 You hear the sound of an engine, and looking up, see a \u201958 Ford pickup truck weaving in and out of the stalled traffic, moving toward your rear, away from town.\u00a0 The book \u201cOne Second After\u201d has just played out in real life.\u00a0 The United States has been attacked by an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) weapon.\u00a0 You\u2019re 15 miles from home, and the \u201cS\u201d has hit the fan.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
