Arab States Issue 13 Demands To Qatar \u2013 Include Unfriending Iran, Beheading Al-Jazeera And Nixing Turkish Base<\/a><\/h3>\n

Two days after the US State Department formally inquired<\/a> about WTF is going on between Arab States and Qatar,\u00a0the countries of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Baahrain, and the\u00a0UAE\u00a0sent a list of 13\u00a0demands to the tiny\u00a0Gulf nation to be met within 10 days<\/strong> in order to lift their total blockade of the country. Among them \u2013 reducing diplomatic ties with Iran, shutting down broadcaster Al Jazeera (and affiliates), and immediately cease working to open a Turkish military base announced in May of 2016<\/a>. Also interesting is the demand that Qatar give up their intel on terrorist groups they have supported and\u00a0\u201cprovide all databases related to oppositionists\u2026<\/strong>\u201d (Scroll down for full list of demands)<\/p>\n

This formal list comes on the heels of a\u00a0June 6th rumor that\u00a0Arab States issued a\u00a0list of 10 demands<\/a> to be fulfilled within 24 hours, however Qatar said they never received them according to Al Jazeera journalists<\/a> who are now dusting off their resumes.<\/p>\n

Embargo<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 5th, news broke that Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt had cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar over accusations of \u2018spreading chaos\u2019 by \u2018funding terrorism and supporting Iran\u2019 \u2013 shutting\u00a0down all land, sea, and air crossings\u00a0with the tiny energy-rich nation that has the highest per capita income in the world.\u00a0Qatari visitors and residents\u00a0were given\u00a0two weeks to leave\u00a0\u2013 while\u00a0diplomats had just\u00a048 hours.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

While\u00a0Qatar has been friendly with Iran for years,\u00a0the prelude to the embargo began after\u00a0a broadcast <\/strong>which showed Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani\u00a0speaking with no audio \u2013 and scrolling text at the bottom of the screen\u00a0which stated his support for Iran and terrorist groups. Qatar claims the broadcast was \u2018hacked.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the broadcast, Saudi Arabia and the UAE blocked Qatari news organization Al-Jazeera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
