The underlying poll was based on a single loaded question, performed by a pro-industry conservative polling company with ties to a pro-<span class=\"caps\">ACP<\/span> politician, and backed and paid for by the same corporate interests that are pushing for the\u00a0pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>EnergySure is a business-backed coalition that in part operates as a public relations wing for the <span class=\"caps\">ACP<\/span>. The group is <a href=\"http:\/\/energysure.com\/the-coalition\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">funded<\/a> by the four companies behind the pipeline \u2014 Dominion, Duke Energy, Piedmont, and Southern Company Gas. EnergySure and its members include the companies behind the <span class=\"caps\">ACP<\/span>, local and state chambers of commerce, and a who\u2019s who list of energy and construction industry backers and business organizations, from the Virginia Coal and Energy Alliance to the North Carolina Petroleum\u00a0Council.<\/p>\n<p>The timing of the EnergySure tweet is not coincidental. Dominion, the main force behind the <span class=\"caps\">ACP<\/span>, is facing political heat at home, with a leading Democratic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/virginia-politics\/perriello-comes-out-against-pipeline-and-in-a-shift-offshore-drilling\/2017\/02\/08\/034c4cea-ee34-11e6-9662-6eedf1627882_story.html?utm_term=.61c5591906ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gubernatorial candidate<\/a> sharply opposing the\u00a0pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Grassroots action is also escalating. On May 10th, scores of protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CCAN\/status\/862334332937142272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">demonstrated <\/a>outside its annual shareholders\u2019 meeting.
