While America\u2019s corporate press remains singularly obsessed with unproven and likely fabricated\u00a0Russia-collusion conspiracy theories, Wall Street\u2019s well on its way to getting away with financial murder thanks to an\u00a0army of cronies embedded within the Trump administration. Indeed, Goldman Sachs running Donald Trump\u2019s economic policy is perhaps the most concerning aspect of his Presidency when it comes to\u00a0negative impacts on average citizens,\u00a0yet it\u2019s almost never placed at the forefront of the corporate press narrative.<\/p>\n

Many of you probably recall headlines in recent weeks about how Trump might be in favor of \u201cbringing back Glass-Steagall\u201d as well as\u00a0breaking up the big banks. These are two things I think are extraordinarily necessary and important, but it turns out Trump has no intention of actually doing any such thing.<\/p>\n

As the title of Bloomberg\u2019s<\/em><\/a> recent article on the topic so perfectly sums up\u2026<\/p>\n

Here are a few excerpts from the\u00a0extremely disturbing,\u00a0yet\u00a0entirely\u00a0unsurprising piece:<\/p>\n

On the first day of May, Donald Trump sat in the Oval Office and declared<\/a> that his administration was taking a look at breaking up Wall Street\u2019s biggest banks. If they ever took him seriously<\/a>, it didn\u2019t last.<\/em><\/p>\n

Instead of cowering, Wall Street executives and lobbyists are crowing, getting more confident about ditching rules that have annoyed them for years. That\u2019s because the Trump administration is appointing friendly regulators and\u00a0signaling it will make life easier for bankers.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBreak up the banks? That ain\u2019t going to happen,\u201d said Rick Hohlt, who has advised and lobbied for lenders including Citigroup Inc. for three decades. \u201cYou need legislation to do that. And the chance of that is about zero.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
