Here\u2019s an excerpt with a couple of the more hair-raising charts:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2017\/04\/04\/global-debt-explodes-eye-watering-pace-hit-170-trillion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Global debt explodes at \u2018eye-watering\u2019 pace to hit \u00a3170 trillion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Global debt has climbed at an \u201ceye-watering\u201d pace over the past decade, soaring to a fresh high of \u00a3170 trillion last year, according to the Institute of International Finance (IIF).The IIF said total debt levels, including household, government and corporate debt, climbed by more than $70 trillion over the last 10 years to a record high of $215 trillion (\u00a3173 trillion) in 2016 \u2013 or the equivalent of 325pc of global gross domestic product (GDP).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Global-debt-percent-GDP-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14867\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Global-debt-percent-GDP-.jpg?resize=550%2C251\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Global-debt-percent-GDP-.jpg?w=550&amp;ssl=1 550w, https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Global-debt-percent-GDP-.jpg?resize=300%2C137&amp;ssl=1 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It said emerging markets posed \u201ca growing source of concern\u201d to financial stability and the global economy as debt burdens in these countries climb at a rapid pace.<\/p>\n<p>Growing vulnerabilities<br \/>\nThe IIF data showed the increase was partly driven by a \u201cspectacular rise\u201d in emerging markets, where total debt stood at $55 trillion at the end of 2016, or 215pc of total emerging market GDP.<\/p>\n<p>Debt has risen from $16 trillion in 2006 and $7.4 trillion in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>The body, which represents the world\u2019s top financial institutions, said a wave of maturing debt this year presented a \u201cgrowing refinancing risk\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It estimates that more than $1.1 trillion of emerging market bonds and loans will mature this year, with dollar-denominated debt accounting for a fifth of all redemptions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Debt-refinancing-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14868\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Debt-refinancing-.jpg?resize=550%2C342\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Debt-refinancing-.jpg?w=550&amp;ssl=1 550w, https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/dollarcollapse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Debt-refinancing-.jpg?resize=300%2C187&amp;ssl=1 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bank of England\u2019s Financial Policy Committee (FPC) said on Tuesday that credit in China continued to grow at a \u201crapid\u201d pace.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate credit in the world\u2019s second largest economy has climbed to 166pc of nominal GDP.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF at the end of last year warned of broader risks to the global economy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Soaring Global Debt Sets Stage For \u201cUnprecedented Private Deleveraging\u201d The UK\u2019s Telegraph just published an analysis of global debt that pretty much sums up the coming crisis.
