{"id":22755,"date":"2017-02-11T14:28:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-11T19:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=22755"},"modified":"2017-02-11T14:28:49","modified_gmt":"2017-02-11T19:28:49","slug":"the-coming-class-wars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=22755","title":{"rendered":"The Coming Class Wars"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Coming Class Wars<\/h3>\n<div class=\"article-header\">\n<div class=\"article-details\">\n<div class=\"article-lede\">\n<div class=\"field field-type-text field-field-lede\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item odd\"><strong>The forces dividing us are overwhelming those that unite us\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content clearfix\">\n<p>In the modern era, the phrase\u00a0<em>Class War<\/em>\u00a0is rooted in the socialist\/Marxist concept that the conflict between labor (the working class) and capital (owners of capital) is not just inevitable\u2014it\u2019s the fulcrum of history.\u00a0 In this view, this Class War is the inevitable result of the asymmetry between the elite who own\/control the capital and the much larger class of people whose livelihood is earned solely by their labor.<\/p>\n<p>In Marx\u2019s analysis, the inner dynamics of capitalism inevitably lead to the concentration of capital in monopolies\/cartels whose great wealth enables them to influence the government to serve the interests of capital. Subservient to capital, the laboring class must overthrow this unholy partnership of capital and the state to become politically free via ownership of\u00a0<em>the means of production<\/em>, i.e. productive assets.<\/p>\n<p>This Class War did not unfold as Marx anticipated.
