Citizen groups in Colorado, New York, Ohio,\u00a0Pennsylvania and Wyoming were also\u00a0trained for the community-based participatory\u00a0research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 1em 0px;\">Over a period of two years, samples were taken at sites locals were concerned about. Laboratory analysis of the samples collected often revealed contaminants such as benzene, formaldehyde and other toxic substances above\u00a0levels the federal government considers safe for brief or longer-term human\u00a0exposure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 1em 0px;\"><span class=\"dquo\" style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px -0.5em;\">\u201c<\/span>The implications for health effects are just enormous,\u201d David O.
