Up until now, they at least pretended to be there\u00a0to serve as watchdogs, but it seems like they\u2019ve decided to give up on that silly illusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">Since they are looking after all things environmental, they need unbiased specialists to advise them on policies and issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">Silly me, I always thought that sounded sort of\u2026I dunno\u2026science-y.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">Our estimable House of Representatives\u00a0disagrees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">Apparently they feel the EPA should\u00a0<em style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: italic; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">not<\/em>\u00a0take advice from independent scientists at all. In fact, they believe it so strongly that they just passed a bill\u00a0barring the freaking ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY from taking the advice of independent scientists. They are now expected\u00a0to take their advice from people who are \u201cindustry affiliated.\u201d Oh \u2013 and those people don\u2019t actually have to be scientists at all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; vertical-align: baseline; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px; border: 0px initial initial;\">Yeah.
