What transpired last night in the United Kingdom represented one of the most extraordinary expressions of democracy in\u00a0my lifetime. When faced with an event of such monumental significance, it\u2019s difficult\u00a0to pick any particular direction for a post like this. I have so many thoughts running through my mind and so many angles I could potentially address, it\u2019s\u00a0simply impossible to do them all justice. As such, I\u2019ve decided to focus on one very meaningful implication of Brexit:\u00a0death of the technocrats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To start, I want to dive into one of the more interesting controversies from the weeks leading up to the vote. What I\u2019m referring to is the statement made by Vote Leave\u2019s Michael Grove regarding \u201cexperts.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the\u00a0Telegraph<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n

On\u00a0Friday night, during an interview on Sky News<\/a>\u00a0about the EU, Faisal Islam challenged the Justice Secretary to name a single independent economic authority that thought Brexit was a good idea. Mr Gove\u2019s response was defiant.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad these organizations aren\u2019t on my side,\u201d he said. \u201cI think people in this country have had enough of experts.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

M<\/span>r Islam spluttered incredulously. People in this country, he repeated, \u201chave had enough of experts?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Mr Gove stood his ground. Yes, he said, people in this country had had enough of experts \u201csaying that they know what is best\u201d.<\/strong>\u00a0Mr Gove had \u201cfaith in the British people\u201d. The so-called experts, clearly, did not.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
