As time has gone on,\u00a0<em>The Intercept<\/em>\u00a0has sought out\u00a0new ways to get documents from\u00a0the archive into the hands of the public, consistent with the public interest as originally conceived.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Today,\u00a0<i>The Intercept\u00a0<\/i>is announcing two innovations in how we report on and publish these materials. Both measures are designed to ensure that reporting on the archive continues in as expeditious and informative a manner as possible, in accordance\u00a0with the agreements we entered into with our source about how these materials would be disclosed, a framework\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ggreenwald\/status\/715323533824548864?lang=en\">that he<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2014\/03\/23\/facts-nsa-stories-reported\/\">and we<\/a>, have publicly described on numerous occasions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The first measure involves the publication of large batches of documents.\u00a0W<\/span><span class=\"s1\">e are, beginning today, publishing in installments the NSA\u2019s\u00a0internal\u00a0<em>SIDtoday<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">newsletters, which span more than a decade beginning after 9\/11. We are starting with the oldest\u00a0<em>SIDtoday<\/em>\u00a0articles, from 2003, and working our way through the most recent in our archive, from 2012. Our first release today contains\u00a0166\u00a0documents, all from 2003, and we will periodically release batches until we have made public\u00a0the entire set.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/snowden-sidtoday\">The documents are available on a\u00a0special section of\u00a0<em>The Intercept<\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The\u00a0<em>SIDtoday<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">documents run a wide gamut: from serious, detailed reports on top secret NSA surveillance programs to breezy, trivial meanderings of analysts\u2019<\/span><span class=\"s1\">trips and vacations, with much in between. Many are self-serving and boastful, designed to justify budgets or impress supervisors.
