What really worries them; however, is when people get together, start talking to each other and then\u00a0form cohesive movements. With \u201cNuit Debout,\u201d or \u201cUp All Night,\u201d this may be happening in France.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.reuters.com\/article\/idUSKCN0X91T0\"><em>Reuters<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reported the following yesterday:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The \u201cNuit Debout\u201d or \u201cUp all Night\u201d movement began on March 31 when a group of activists decided not to go home after a march against labor reform, said 35-year-old Simon, a theater worker and one of the volunteers who greets newcomers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Crowds ranging from several hundred to a few thousand have gathered every evening since then for a spontaneous happening that is a mixture of street theater, party and ritual initiation for a new generation of activists.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cNuit Debout is a problem for Hollande because it\u2019s largely his 2012 voters who are taking to the street and saying \u2018We were fooled. Never again\u2019,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Socialist lawmaker Malek Boutih told Le Monde daily.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sound familiar?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Hollande made a big play for the youth vote in his 2012 election campaign and is now considering whether to run again in 2017 despite\u00a0<strong>record low approval ratings.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The all-night sit-ins spread to some 60 towns around the provinces at the weekend, worrying the government sufficiently for it to announce about 500 million euros in extra subsidies for young job seekers on Monday.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Protesters say the latest handouts to students and apprentices miss the point.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cNuit Debout\u201d \u2013 Have Protests in France Turned Into a Larger Movement?
