{"id":19564,"date":"2016-04-05T18:15:47","date_gmt":"2016-04-05T23:15:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=19564"},"modified":"2016-04-05T18:16:12","modified_gmt":"2016-04-05T23:16:12","slug":"shots-fired-wikileaks-accuses-panama-papers-leaker-of-being-soros-funded-soft-power-tax-dodge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=19564","title":{"rendered":"Shots Fired: Wikileaks Accuses Panama Papers&#8217; Leaker Of Being &#8220;Soros-Funded, Soft-Power Tax Dodge&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-04-05\/shots-fired-wikileaks-accuses-panama-papers-leaker-being-soros-funded-soft-power-tax\" target=\"_blank\">Shots Fired: Wikileaks Accuses Panama Papers&#8217; Leaker Of Being &#8220;Soros-Funded, Soft-Power Tax Dodge&#8221;<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"tabs\">Earlier today, for the first time we got a glimpse into some of the American\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-04-05\/here-are-some-americans-panama-papers\">names allegedly contained\u00a0<\/a>in the &#8220;Panama Papers&#8221;, largest ever leak. &#8220;Some&#8221;, not all, and &#8220;allegedly&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-04-04\/mossack-fonseca-has-441-us-clients-who-are-they\">because as we said yesterday<\/a>, &#8220;one can&#8217;t help but wonder:\u00a0<strong>why not do a Wikileaks type data dump, one which reveals if not all the 2.6 terabytes of data due to security concerns, then at least the identities of these 441 US-based clients.<\/strong>\u00a0After all, with the rest of the world has already been extensively shamed, it&#8217;s only fair to open US books as well.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div class=\"node sticky\" data-mediaconductor-processed=\"true\">\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>The exact same question appeared in an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2016\/04\/reporters-pulled-off-panama-papers-biggest-leak-whistleblower-history\/\">interview conducted between Wired magazine\u00a0<\/a>and the director of the organization that released the Panama Papers, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, or ICIJ, Gerard Ryle.<\/p>\n<p>This is what Ryle said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><strong>Ryle says that the media organizations have\u00a0no plans to release the full dataset, WikiLeaks-style, which he argues would expose the sensitive information of innocent private individuals along with the public figures on which the group\u2019s reporting has focused<\/strong>. \u201c<strong>We\u2019re not WikiLeaks. We\u2019re trying to show that journalism can be done responsibly<\/strong>,\u201d Ryle says.
