TransCanada has failed for years to win approval of the controversial border-crossing Keystone\u00a0<span class=\"caps\" style=\"font-size: 0.9em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">XL<\/span>pipeline, so apparently the company has decided to \u201c<a style=\"color: #3399cc; text-decoration: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\" href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/222421-vet-lobbyist-either-win-ugly-or-lose-pretty-in-fight-with-greens\" target=\"_blank\">win ugly or lose pretty<\/a>\u201d with an aggressive public relations attack on its\u00a0opponents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 1em 0px;\">The Edelman strategy documents and work proposals outline a \u201cgrassroots advocacy\u201d campaign plan to build support for TransCanada\u2019s Energy East pipeline as well as to undermine public opposition to oil and pipelines\u00a0generally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 1em 0px;\">The documents should cause well-deserved embarrassment for Edelman, the largest\u00a0<span class=\"caps\" style=\"font-size: 0.9em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">PR<\/span>\u00a0company in the world, as well as\u00a0TransCanada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 1em 0px;\">But this is not just a temporary black eye for a\u00a0<span class=\"caps\" style=\"font-size: 0.9em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">PR<\/span>\u00a0firm and its corporate client.
