Is there such a thing? How many of you go to the store every week to get produce and meat? I would venture to guess almost all of us. Over the last several years, a substantial amount of our wealth has gone into purchasing food staples like meat, eggs and dairy. Even though we were \u201ctechnically\u201d making our way out of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/resources\/the-whole-thing-is-about-to-come-unhinged-6-ways-to-prepare-for-the-next-collapse_07012016\/\" target=\"_blank\">recession of 2008<\/a>, prices still continued to steadily rise. I was even more frustrated when country of origin labels were removed and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/resources\/the-beginning-of-the-end-newly-discovered-superbug-in-imported-meat-resistant-to-all-antibiotics_11122015\/\" target=\"_blank\">serious health-related superbugs were present in packaged meat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/food-inflation-since-2010.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-38531  aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/food-inflation-since-2010-1024x841.png\" alt=\"food-inflation-since-2010\" width=\"450\" height=\"370\" \/><\/a><\/center>For years, I have placed a lot of focuson finding ways to be more sustainable. I was tired of living a life in a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/resources\/going-rogue-15-ways-to-detach-from-the-system_17042015\/\" target=\"_blank\">dependency-driven system<\/a>\u00a0and wanted to make more sustainable choices. Admittedly, I still go to the grocery store, but I have taken significant strides to break away from it. I no longer purchase meat, eggs and most produce. I either raise my own food sources or find them locally. This has saved us from the ever\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/resources\/end-of-an-era-prospects-look-bleak-for-slowing-the-coming-food-crisis_29012015\/\" target=\"_blank\">volatile price increases<\/a>\u00a0of grocery stores that many are dealing with.<\/p>\n<p>I also made some drastic changes around the house.\u00a0While many believe the first steps toward food freedom are the most\u00a0difficult to take, I found them to be the most rewarding and only encouraged me to be bolder in my pursuits. In a long-term emergency scenario, I knew that I needed the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/readynutrition.com\/resources\/6-essential-food-types-to-grow-your-own-food-pantry_03052014\/\" target=\"_blank\">land I have to work for me<\/a>.
