There\u2019s a kind of false dichotomy, a false choice that we\u2019re being presented between policies on the left or policies on the right. It\u2019s not left or right, it\u2019s forward or backward. It\u2019s a choice between investing in the future, leaving a better future for the next generation just like parents and grandparents did for us, or ignoring these hard choices and sentencing the next generation to a lower standard of living, to fewer opportunities, and a future that we could do better by.\u00a0[1]<\/p>\n<p><strong>~ ~ ~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Like so much of our public discourses these days\u2014notably surrounding the [sadly] too-comical Presidential races\u2014truth, context, relevance, facts, integrity, and their related concepts have given way to the damaging urgency of adhering to ideology. Consequences are rendered irrelevant.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The discussions about climate change and the future of fossil fuel production have been among the noteworthy casualties of our polarized approach to governance and problem-solving. Like the other disputes light on facts in favor of extra doses of partisanship, in time the consequences will be anything but irrelevant. Recriminations, justifiable though they may be, will help none of us as we deal with the harsh realities we\u2019ve ignored in favor of scoring points for our side.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Covering as many bases as possible, a predominantly fact-free\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/articles\/2016\/01\/save_us_from_the_tyranny_of_settled_science.html\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a><\/strong><em><strong>\u00a0[except for the obligatory cherry-picking] in the irony-rich online\u00a0<\/strong>American Thinker<strong>\u00a0ventured first into the obligatory right-wing climate change doubting nonsense [citing one whole \u201cClimate Statistics Prof\u201d before veering off into a reference about \u201ca well-loved and respected doctor\u201d who was \u201cexpelled from an important medical center\u201d because of \u201clegitimate evidence-based concerns\u201d regarding the center\u2019s \u201cdecision to endorse the homosexual lifestyle,\u201d then on to a \u201chighly qualified scientist in California\u201d fired because he \u201cfound scientific evidence that questioned a dogma of evolutionary thought,\u201d and \u201cso many other cases,\u201d before readers were finally ushered into an equally fact-free but statement-rich denunciation of \u201csettled science.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peak Oil: Stark Realities &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; We face a choice going forward.
