{"id":16102,"date":"2016-01-06T12:19:33","date_gmt":"2016-01-06T17:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=16102"},"modified":"2016-01-06T12:19:33","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T17:19:33","slug":"would-your-children-survive-on-their-own","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=16102","title":{"rendered":"Would Your Children Survive On Their Own?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesurvivalistblog.net\/teaching-kids-survival-and-prepper-skills\/\" target=\"_blank\">Would Your Children Survive On Their Own?<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"post-info\">We have all read about the street children in Argentina after the economic\u00a0<a title=\"Argentine economic crisis (1999\u20132002)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Argentine_economic_crisis_%281999%E2%80%932002%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">collapse there<\/a>, who wander the streets begging, stealing and scrounging through trash to survive.<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Many were forced into child labor and prostitution.\u00a0\u00a0Some by their own\u00a0parents that could not support them\u00a0or worse\u00a0exploiting them for their own gain.\u00a0In many\u00a0ways\u00a0children suffer most\u00a0after a disaster.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2010_Haiti_earthquake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">7.0 Earthquake\u00a0<\/a>that shook\u00a0Haiti on 12 January 2010 many children become parent-less. We saw the same thing happen to children\u00a0in Sri Lanka after the tsunami on Sunday, December 26, 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Many more examples of orphaned children after disaster could be presented here, but let\u2019s get to the point.<\/p>\n<p>There is a distinct possibility that something could happen to you during or after a disaster leaving your children or grandchildren\u00a0on their own. Could they survive? Have you done anything to increase their chances?<\/p>\n<p>Could your children survive on their own after a major disaster or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesurvivalistblog.net\/how-to-survive-teotwawki-in-14-easy\/\">TEOTWAWKI<\/a>\u00a0event? What would they do if you were no longer there to care for and protect them? Could they make it on their own \u2013 would they know what to do?<\/p>\n<p>This is one\u00a0of those things\u00a0parents do not want to think about, but not thinking about it won\u2019t lessen the possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Most kids today have few\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesurvivalistblog.net\/\">survival skills<\/a>\u00a0or an interest in such things,\u00a0most kids are more interested in playing video games, or when the latest teen celebrity is getting released from rehab.<\/p>\n<p>If you can get them interested and motivated you have already won over half the battle.<\/p>\n<p>How you do this will depend on the child,\u00a0but most will respond best if you make it a game, in other words do your best to make it fun.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Would Your Children Survive On Their Own?
