The Post Carbon report dropped just as Congress is on the verge of lifting the oil export ban for U.S.-produced crude oil, which will only further incentivize drilling and\u00a0fracking.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>Titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.postcarbon.org\/publications\/eagle-ford-reality-check\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eagle Ford Reality Check: The Nation&#8217;s Top Tight Oil Play After More Than a Year of Low Oil Prices<\/a>,\u201d the report is the latest in a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.postcarbon.org\/program\/bsh\/\" target=\"_blank\">series of long reports<\/a>\u00a0on the overhyped future of oil obtained via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/fracking-the-future\/\" target=\"_blank\">hydraulic fracturing (\u201cfracking\u201d)<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">U.S.<\/span>\u00a0by Post Carbon Institute Fellow\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.postcarbon.org\/our-people\/david-hughes\" target=\"_blank\">David Hughes<\/a>. Hughes formerly worked for 32 years with the Geological Survey of Canada as a scientist and research manager before coming to Post\u00a0Carbon.<\/p>\n<p>It also comes just two months after Post Carbon&#8217;s October release of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.postcarbon.org\/publications\/bakken-reality-check\/\" target=\"_blank\">similarly titled report<\/a>\u00a0on North Dakota&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/directory\/vocabulary\/7174\" target=\"_blank\">Bakken Shale<\/a>basin, the second biggest shale oil field in the\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">U.S.<\/span>\u00a0behind the Eagle\u00a0Ford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Eagle Ford Reality Check, David Hughes\u2026looks at how production in the Eagle Ford has changed after a year of low oil prices,\u201d a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.postcarbon.org\/publications\/eagle-ford-reality-check\/\" target=\"_blank\">summary of the report explains<\/a>. \u201cOil production in the Eagle Ford is now falling after more than a year of low oil prices. The glory days of the Eagle Ford are behind it, at the ripe old age of six\u00a0years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many of the same themes and concepts, for those familiar with Post Carbon&#8217;s previous \u201cshale bubble\u201d updates, reappear in this report.
