In recently proclaiming Hillary Clinton free of any national security breach \u2014 even as the FBI was continuing its investigation of her use of a potentially risky private email server for official business while she was Secretary of State \u2014 President Barack Obama continued his disturbing pattern of rendering his personal verdict ahead of legal proceedings in high-profile cases involving classified government information.<\/p>\n<p>From Private Chelsea Manning to General David Petraeus to Edward Snowden and now to Hillary Clinton, the President has sounded off with his opinions on guilt or innocence \u2014 and on any alleged damage to national security \u2014 in advance of either a trial, or an indictment, or completion of an investigation.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/petraeus-broadwell.jpg?4574c0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6013\" src=\"http:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/petraeus-broadwell-300x199.jpg?4574c0\" alt=\"Gen. (U.S. government photo)\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Short version: whistleblowers Manning and Snowden clearly guilty; former high government officials Petraeus and Clinton \u2014 no problem.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2011 \u2014 two years before court martial proceedings began and almost two years before Manning acknowledged being a source for hundreds of thousands of classified documents released by Wikileaks \u2014 Obama proclaimed Manning guilty.
