{"id":13854,"date":"2015-10-27T06:24:54","date_gmt":"2015-10-27T11:24:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=13854"},"modified":"2015-10-27T06:24:54","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T11:24:54","slug":"dont-think-the-status-quo-will-save-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=13854","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t Think the Status Quo Will Save You"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oftwominds.com\/blogoct15\/status-quo10-15.html\" target=\"_blank\">Don&#8217;t Think the Status Quo Will Save You<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><i>Here&#8217;s a chart that shows how the Status Quo &#8220;fixes&#8221; every problem: it transfers more debt and more losses to the taxpayers.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Many hold a touchingly naive faith that the Status Quo will save them even as the current system unravels.<\/b>\u00a0Why is this faith naive?<\/p>\n<p><b>Let&#8217;s start with this key question:<\/b>\u00a0does the Status Quo strike you as being even remotely competent?<\/p>\n<p><b>If you answer &#8220;yes,&#8221; we have to ask: what planet are you on? Mars?<\/b>\u00a0Here on Earth, no one that isn&#8217;t a bought-and-paid for-shill of the Status Quo would even make the risible claim of Status Quo competence, except as a bitter joke.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Status Quo assumes we can&#8217;t deal with the truth like adults, and so it sugar-coats every unsolvable problem with lies and false assurances.<\/b>\u00a0The Status Quo assumption is the Great Unwashed 90% will\u00a0<i>shoot the messenger<\/i>, i.e. toss out our public leadership should they be foolish enough to tell us the truth:\u00a0<b>the promises issued to you cannot possibly be fulfilled.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Not because of an evil cabal, but because\u00a0<b>the demographics and financial realities render the promises impossible to keep, regardless of who&#8217;s in office.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>I&#8217;m going to get my Social Security, right? I wuz promised!<\/i>\u00a0Don&#8217;t be a chump, man. You&#8217;ll get something that&#8217;s called Social Security, but it will either be taxed to the point it only buys a loaf of bread or will only be worth a loaf of bread. So yes, you&#8217;ll get\u00a0<i>Social Security<\/i>, but not the one you were promised or the one you&#8217;re imagining.<\/p>\n<p><i>I&#8217;m going to get my Medicare, right? I wuz promised!<\/i>\u00a0Sure, you are, pal.
