Even if the towers are operational, they can\u2019t handle the added traffic of millions of people trying to get a hold of loved ones \u2013 or help. Ever had trouble calling your mother on the morning of Mother\u2019s Day?<\/p>\n<p>During many recent events, cell phone service wasn\u2019t an option for many for days. The system became seriously overloaded on 9\/11 so calls wouldn\u2019t go through,\u00a0<strong>70% of the towers went down during Katrina<\/strong>\u00a0and were down for days, and most areas haven\u2019t been adequately improved across the US.<\/p>\n<p>These won\u2019t be isolated events.
