The stronger quake occurred just a few miles from the city of Cushing, which holds one of the largest crude oil storage facilities in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The recent quakes struck only a handful of weeks after the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC), the state\u2019s public utilities commission,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kfor.com\/2015\/09\/18\/earthquakes-rattle-cushing-residents-authorities-shut-down-disposal-wells-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">shut down several disposal wells<\/a>\u00a0around Cushing and issued new regulations meant to prevent more\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/?s=oklahoma\">earthquakes<\/a>\u00a0in the area, according to\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/america.aljazeera.com\/articles\/2015\/10\/11\/new-rules-on-fracking-earthquake-hits-near-cushing-okla.html?utm_content=nobylines&amp;utm_campaign=ajam&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=SocialFlow\" target=\"_blank\">Al Jazeera<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_369886\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/frackingok.png\"><span class=\"image-container wp-image-369886 size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-369886 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/frackingok.png\" alt=\"frackingok\" width=\"750\" height=\"418\" \/><\/span><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_369886\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This map shows earthquakes with 2.5+ magnitudes within a 400-mile radius of Oklahoma City. There were multiple aftershocks in Cushing, recorded at 3.0, 3.2, 3.1, 2.8, 2.7 and 2.5.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Noltensmeyer, Cushing Emergency Manager, told the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/cbd4ac9ef79a4304b9335d73fc85040c\/oklahoma-feels-another-moderate-magnitude-earthquake\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Associated Press<\/em><\/a>\u00a0he had not received reports of significant damage in the area although there were \u201cshattered nerves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one was pretty strong,\u201d he added. \u201cThe whole house shook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 4.4 was also recorded on Saturday at 4:20 a.m. about 18 miles southwest of Medford and about 100 miles northwest of Cushing.<\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s heartland used to register earthquakes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2015\/09\/21\/oklahoma-earthquakes-fracking\/\">from two a year to almost two a day<\/a>.
