What Eisenhower REALLY Said About the \u201cMilitary Industrial Complex\u201d<\/a><\/h3>\n
You know about President and General Dwight Eisenhower\u2019s\u00a0prescient warning<\/a>\u00a0about the \u201cmilitary-industrial complex\u201d as he left the White House?<\/div>\n

Well, it turns out that he was really warning about the \u201cmilitary-industrial-congressional<\/strong><\/em>\u201d complex.<\/p>\n

42-year CIA veteran Milton Goodman\u00a0explains<\/a>:<\/p>\n

In the spring of 1961, I was part of a small group of undergraduates who met with the president\u2019s brother, Milton Eisenhower, who was then president of Johns Hopkins University. Milton Eisenhower and a Johns Hopkins professor of political science, Malcolm Moos, played major roles in the drafting and editing of the farewell speech of January 1961.<\/p>\n

The actual drafter of the speech, Ralph E. Williams, relied on guidance from Professor Moos. Milton Eisenhower explained that one of the drafts of the speech referred to the \u201cmilitary-industrial-Congressional<\/strong>\u00a0complex\u201d and said that\u00a0the president himself inserted the reference to the role of the Congress<\/strong>, an element that did not appear in the delivery of the farewell address.<\/p>\n

When the president\u2019s brother asked about the dropped reference to Congress, the president replied: \u201cIt was more than enough to take on the military and private industry. I couldn\u2019t take on the Congress as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
