According to some estimates, in a matter of decades robots may become better and cheaper than humans in most tasks and make most of the human workforce unemployable.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/7Pq-S557XQU\" width=\"690\" height=\"388\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Hawkins believes that in such a scenario we should expect not prosperity but drastic economic inequality in the future.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/science\/comments\/3nyn5i\/science_ama_series_stephen_hawking_ama_answers\/cvsdmkv\">he said<\/a>\u00a0in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEveryone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution.
