{"id":12582,"date":"2015-09-24T06:20:17","date_gmt":"2015-09-24T11:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=12582"},"modified":"2015-09-24T06:20:17","modified_gmt":"2015-09-24T11:20:17","slug":"jodi-data-and-giant-field-depletion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=12582","title":{"rendered":"JODI Data and Giant Field Depletion"},"content":{"rendered":"<header>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/peakoilbarrel.com\/jodi-data-and-giant-field-depletion\/\" target=\"_blank\">JODI Data and Giant Field Depletion<\/a><\/h3>\n<div class=\"entry-meta\">I am starting this post off with a news article because it explains why\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jodidata.org\/oil\/\">JODI<\/a>\u00a0has U.S. production numbers wrong for July.<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/moneybeat\/2015\/09\/21\/no-u-s-oil-production-probably-didnt-rise-in-july\/\">No, U.S. Oil Production Probably Didn\u2019t Rise in July<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jodidata.org\/\">Joint Organizations Data Initiative<\/a>\u00a0(JODI) releases monthly oil supply-and-demand data for about 80 countries, which it gathers by directly surveying the countries. It is widely cited by analysts, especially for its figures on demand, imports and exports.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The latest JODI data released Sunday showed that U.S. crude-oil production rose from 9.3 million barrels a day in June to 9.5 million barrels in July.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>But the EIA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eia.gov\/forecasts\/steo\/\">latest forecast<\/a>\u00a0called for July production to fall to 9.2 million barrels a day in July<\/strong>, continuing\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-oil-production-fell-in-may-from-april-eia-says-1436288342\">the trend of declining U.S. production\u00a0<\/a>as companies cut spending in the face of low prices.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the charts below I have used JODI data for all Non-OPEC nations except those that do not report to JODI. For them I use the EIA data and carry forward the same data that the EIA reported, (April). For the USA, since the JODI data is obviously wrong for July, I simply carried forward the June data which also came directly from the EIA. And for OPEC I use the OPEC MOMR\u2019s \u201csecondary sources\u201d. JODI also uses the MOMR for their data but uses the \u201cdirect communication\u201d data instead of the secondary sources data.<\/p>\n<p>The data below is through<strong>\u00a0July<\/strong>\u00a02015 and is in thousand barrels per day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/peakoilbarrel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JODI-World-C-C.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9506\" src=\"http:\/\/peakoilbarrel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JODI-World-C-C.jpg\" alt=\"JODI World C+C\" width=\"720\" height=\"444\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In July we remained at or near the world\u2019s all time peak at 75,631,000 barrels per day, down just 15,000 bpd from June.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/peakoilbarrel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JODI-Non-OPEC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9507\" src=\"http:\/\/peakoilbarrel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JODI-Non-OPEC.jpg\" alt=\"JODI Non-OPEC\" width=\"714\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>JODI Non-OPEC stood at 44,100,000 bpd in July, down 567,000 bpd from the peak in December.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JODI Data and Giant Field Depletion I am starting this post off with a news article because it explains why\u00a0JODI\u00a0has U.S. production numbers wrong for July.
