In this case the biggest beneficiaries will be some of the world\u2019s largest oil and gas majors \u2014 particularly those in the U.S. \u2014 and well-connected local politicians. Chief among them is former Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada, whose private equity firm Energy and Infrastructure Mexico (EIM) has just signed a joint venture with Aubrey McClendon, former CEO of natural gas giant Chesapeake Energy and current CEO of American Energy Partners (AEP).<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Well-Oiled Revolving Door<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The partnership\u2019s main purpose, according to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sinembargo.mx\/08-09-2015\/1479281\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Sin Embargo<\/u><\/a>, is to exploit the vast exploration and development opportunities opened up by Mexico\u2019s newly privatized and liberalized energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a significant vote of confidence in the Energy Reform program championed by current Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, and in the myriad possibilities offered by Mexico\u2019s unconventional resources,\u201d hailed a joint press release.
