Its streets have been turned into fast-flowing currents of water that swept away cars and trucks.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zr54eamNzlc\" width=\"690\" height=\"388\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>A spokesman for the local council said the rain\u00a0<em>\u201cintensified in the town at around 11:45 a.m.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0on Monday, causing damage to\u00a0<em>&#8220;garages, basements, shops and homes,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0the La Voz de Almer\u00eda newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div id=\"twitter-widget-i1441711715620153229\" class=\"twitter-video twitter-video-rendered\" data-tweet-id=\"640838562536128512\">\n<div><iframe id=\"undefined\" class=\"\" title=\"Embedded Tweet\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Spain\u2019s southern coast has been battling severe flooding caused by heavy rains for several days. At least one fatality was reported, with a 61-year-old man killed when his car was washed away in the town of Polopos, in the province of Granada.<\/p>\n<p>Several provinces, including Valencia, Alicante, Granada and Almeria, were issued with weather alerts by Spain&#8217;s Civil Protection Service.
