America’s Biggest Lie – Dictatorship Or Democracy?<\/a><\/h3>\n

The Deceit About Being A ‘Republic’ Versus A ‘Democracy’<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of my recent articles at several sites,\u00a0“Jimmy Carter Is\u00a0Correct That the U.S.\u00a0Is No Longer a\u00a0Democracy\u201d<\/a>\u00a0generated many reader-comments (such as\u00a0here<\/a>) saying things like, “The US has always been a republic. There are no\u00a0true democracies in the modern world.\u201d This will be my response to all who expressed that view:<\/em><\/p>\n

You miss the point that Carter made, and that I there documented to be true, which is no semantic issue (\u201cdemocracy\u201d versus \u201crepublic\u201d), but which instead concerns\u00a0the basic lie about what the United States of America really is now<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Is this a representative democracy,<\/strong>\u00a0such as its Founders intended and such as it was famous and honored throughout the world for being, until at least around 1980?<\/div>\n

Or, is it instead a nation that\u2019s ruled by a tiny elite,<\/strong>\u00a0an aristocracy, which in this country consists of its\u00a0500 or so<\/a>\u00a0billionaires, who buy the politicians whom \u2018we\u2019 \u2018elect\u2019?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Is the U.S. now, basically, a fraud? Is it a dictatorship, instead of a democracy? Is it some kind of aristocracy, which controls the government here?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That\u2019s not a semantic issue, at all. America\u2019s first political party was called the \u201cDemocratic Republican Party,\u201d but could as well have been called the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, because those two terms are essentially synonymous in any nation that has a large population, in which the public elect representatives to represent them, instead of directly vote on the policies that the government is to pursue \u2014 to place into its law, and to enforce by its duly authorized police or otherwise, and to adjudicate by democratically appointed judges and\/or juries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
