{"id":10805,"date":"2015-08-06T07:06:38","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T12:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10805"},"modified":"2015-08-06T07:06:38","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T12:06:38","slug":"even-the-department-of-homeland-security-says-the-cisa-cybersecurity-bill-will-hurt-security-and-destroy-privacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10805","title":{"rendered":"Even the Department of Homeland Security Says the CISA \u201cCybersecurity\u201d Bill Will HURT Security and Destroy Privacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonsblog.com\/2015\/08\/even-the-department-of-homeland-security-says-the-cisa-cybersecurity-bill-will-hurt-security-and-destroy-privacy.html\" target=\"_blank\">Even the Department of Homeland Security Says the CISA \u201cCybersecurity\u201d Bill Will HURT Security and Destroy Privacy<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Even Homeland Security says that CISA \u2013 the faux \u201ccybersecurity\u201d bill which may be rammed through the Senate any day without any debate \u2013 will harm America\u2019s security and destroy privacy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>DHS Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas\u00a0<a title=\"told\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2015\/aug\/03\/cisa-homeland-security-privacy-data-internet\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a>\u00a0the Senate Monday:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The bill \u201craises privacy and civil liberties concerns and would complicate efforts to establish an automatic sharing regime\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThis will limit the ability of DHS to connect the dots and proactively recognize emerging risks and help private and public organizations implement effective mitigations to reduce the likelihood of damaging incidents\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>CISA \u201ccould sweep away important privacy protections\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The bill\u2019s \u201cexpansive definitions of cyber threat indicators\u201d would also permit companies to share data unrelated to cyber threats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And see\u00a0<a title=\"this\" href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/cybersecurity\/250068-dhs-worried-cyber-bill-will-sweep-away-privacy-protections\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a>.
