You reduce downpayments and lower credit standards, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Where have we seen\u00a0this story before\u2026<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/j-p-morgan-loosens-terms-for-jumbo-mortgages-1438709863\">the\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The nation\u2019s largest bank by assets plans to announce Wednesday that it is lowering the minimum credit score and down payment it requires for mortgages as big as $3 million.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The New York firm\u2019s moves follow similar steps at\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/quotes.wsj.com\/BAC\">Bank of America<\/a><span class=\"company-name-type\">Corp.<\/span>,\u00a0<a class=\"company-name\" href=\"http:\/\/quotes.wsj.com\/WFC\">Wells Fargo<\/a>\u00a0&amp; Co. and other banks on requirements for \u201cjumbo\u201d mortgages\u2014those that exceed $417,000 in most parts of the country or $625,500 in pricier markets.\u00a0<strong>At the same time, some big banks are backing away from smaller loans where they see higher regulatory costs and litigation risks.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guess it\u2019s gonna be\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/libertyblitzkrieg.com\/2015\/08\/03\/the-rent-is-too-damn-high-san-fran-residents-pay-1000-a-month-to-live-in-shipping-containers\/\">shipping\u00a0container apartments<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0everyone else.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Since the financial crisis, a recovery in the mortgage market has faced several challenges, but the jumbo market\u2014popular with well-heeled borrowers\u2014has bounced back along with sales of higher-priced homes. I<strong>n the second quarter, overall jumbo originations rose to an eight-year high of $93 billion, up 58% from a year ago<\/strong>, according to a preliminary estimate from industry newsletter Inside Mortgage Finance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>By dollar volume, jumbo mortgages given out by lenders last year accounted for about 20% of all first-lien mortgages, used mostly to purchase or refinance a home, according to Inside Mortgage Finance. That is up from 5.5% in 2009. The last time jumbo mortgages accounted for a larger share was in 2005.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>2005\u2026got it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>For jumbo mortgages, J.P.
