{"id":10710,"date":"2015-08-04T08:26:30","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T13:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10710"},"modified":"2015-08-04T08:26:30","modified_gmt":"2015-08-04T13:26:30","slug":"crashing-apple-twitter-oil-commodities-greek-stocks-chinese-stocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10710","title":{"rendered":"Crashing: Apple, Twitter, Oil, Commodities, Greek Stocks, Chinese Stocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/crashing-apple-twitter-oil-commodities-greek-stocks-chinese-stocks\" target=\"_blank\">Crashing: Apple, Twitter, Oil, Commodities, Greek Stocks, Chinese Stocks<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/crashing-apple-twitter-oil-commodities-greek-stocks-chinese-stocks\/crash-public-domain\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9063\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-9063\" src=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Crash-Public-Domain-460x304.jpg\" alt=\"Crash - Public Domain\" width=\"460\" height=\"304\" \/><\/a>The month of August sure has started off with a bang.\u00a0 Tech stocks are crashing, oil is crashing, industrial commodities are crashing, Greek stocks crashed the moment that the Greek stock market reopened for trading, and Chinese stocks continue to crash.\u00a0 At this point we have not seen a broad crash of U.S. stocks yet, but it is important to note that the Dow is already down more than 700 points from the peak in May.\u00a0 If it continues to slide like it has in recent days, it won\u2019t be too long before we will officially reach \u201ccorrection\u201d territory.\u00a0 Just a few days ago, I described August as a \u201c<a title=\"pivotal month\" href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/11-red-flag-events-that-just-happened-as-we-enter-the-pivotal-month-of-august-2015\">pivotal month<\/a>\u201c, and so far that is indeed turning out to be the case.<\/p>\n<p>A full-blown financial crisis has not erupted yet, but we are well on the way.\u00a0 In this article, I want to look at a few of the \u201ccrashes\u201d that are already happening\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apple<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is more of a \u201ccorrection\u201d than a \u201ccrash\u201d, but it is very noteworthy because it is happening to one of the most important U.S. stocks of all.\u00a0 The price of Apple stock has already broken through the 200 day moving average, and at this point it is down\u00a0<a title=\"nearly 11 percent from the peak\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/markets\/2015\/08\/03\/apple-break-down-bad\/31057587\/\" target=\"_blank\">nearly 11 percent from the peak<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Shares of Apple\u00a0<strong>are down 10.9%<\/strong>\u00a0from their highest point in a year \u2014\u00a0<strong>which places the stock squarely in what\u2019s considered to be a correction<\/strong>. The unofficial definition of a correction is a 10% or greater drop from a recent high.
