This document, produced by TransCanada and signed by two company executives, details the results of its investigation into the \u201croot cause\u201d of the corrosion problems discovered on the Keystone\u00a0pipeline.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/finance?cid=35155\" target=\"_blank\">TransCanada Corporation<\/a>\u00a0is continuing its push to build the northern route of the Keystone\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">XL<\/span>\u00a0pipeline. On July 27, the company appeared at a hearing in Pierre, South Dakota, to seek recertification of the Keystone\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">XL<\/span>construction permit that expired last\u00a0year.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.puc.sd.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sou<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.puc.sd.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">th Dakota Public Utilities Commission<\/a>\u00a0must decide if TransCanada can guarantee it can build the pipeline under the conditions set in 2010, which it must do in order to have the permit\u00a0reapproved.<\/p>\n<p>High-profile spills and other incidents already tar TransCanada\u2019s safety record. The company faces at least two known ongoing investigations by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (<span class=\"caps\">PHMSA<\/span>). The incident records of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/2015\/05\/21\/transcanada-s-keystone-pipeline-network-under-investigation-federal-regulators\" target=\"_blank\">southern route of the Keystone\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">XL<\/span>\u00a0(renamed the Gulf Coast Pipeline)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/2015\/04\/30\/exclusive-transcanada-keystone-1-pipeline-suffered-major-corrosion-only-two-years-operation-95-worn-one-section\" target=\"_blank\">the Keystone 1 Pipeline<\/a>\u00a0call into question TransCanada\u2019s claim that its pipelines are among the safest ever\u00a0built.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last couple of years TransCanada\u2019s public relations team, with the help of friendly regulators, have kept critical evidence away from the public and quashed many media\u00a0inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>But evidence of TransCanada\u2019s poor performance continues to emerge.
