{"id":10070,"date":"2015-07-15T06:37:01","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T11:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10070"},"modified":"2015-07-15T06:37:01","modified_gmt":"2015-07-15T11:37:01","slug":"the-greek-debt-deal-is-already-starting-to-fall-apart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=10070","title":{"rendered":"The \u2018Greek Debt Deal\u2019 Is Already Starting To Fall Apart"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/the-greek-debt-deal-is-already-starting-to-fall-apart\" target=\"_blank\">The \u2018Greek Debt Deal\u2019 Is Already Starting To Fall Apart<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1TBhAFw\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8959\" src=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Puzzle-Pieces-Public-Domain-460x259.jpg\" alt=\"Puzzle Pieces - Public Domain\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a>The \u201cdeal that was designed to fail\u201d has already begun to unravel.\u00a0 The IMF, which was expected to provide a big chunk of the financing, has indicated that it may walk away from the deal unless Greece is granted extensive debt relief.\u00a0 This is something that the Germans and their allies have resolutely refused to do.\u00a0 Meanwhile, outrage is pouring in from all over Europe regarding what the Greek government is being forced to do to their own people.\u00a0 Most of this anger is being directed at the Germans, but the truth is that without German money the Greek banking system and the Greek economy will completely and utterly collapse.\u00a0 So even though Greek Prime Minister Alex Tsipras admits that this is a deal that he does not believe in, he is attempting to get it pushed through the Greek parliament, and we should know on Wednesday whether he was successful or not.\u00a0 But even if the Greek parliament approves it, we could still see either the German or the Finnish parliaments reject it.\u00a0 It seems as though nobody is really happy with this deal, and these negotiations have exposed very deep divisions within Europe.\u00a0 Could this be the beginning of the end for the eurozone?<\/p>\n<p>The Germans appear to believe that they can push the Greeks out of the eurozone and that everything will be okay somehow.\u00a0 This is something that I wrote about extensively\u00a0<a title=\"yesterday\" href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/3-big-reasons-why-the-greek-debt-deal-is-really-a-german-trap\">yesterday<\/a>, and it turns out that a lot of other prominent voices agree with me.\u00a0 For example, just consider what\u00a0<a title=\"Paul Krugman of the New York Times\" href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/\/2015\/07\/12\/killing-the-european-project\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Krugman of the New York Times<\/a>\u00a0had to say about this.\u00a0 I am kind of amazed that he finally got something right\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\">Suppose you consider Tsipras an incompetent twerp.
