Now, as neo-Nazis\u00a0turn their guns on the government, it\u2019s hard\u00a0to see how anyone can clean up the mess that Nuland made, writes Robert Parry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"entry-meta\">\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><span id=\"more-15477\"><\/span>As the Ukrainian army squares off against ultra-right and neo-Nazi militias in the west and violence against ethnic Russians continues in the east, the obvious folly of the Obama administration\u2019s Ukraine policy has come into focus even for many who tried to ignore the facts, or what you might call \u201cthe mess that Victoria Nuland made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs \u201cToria\u201d Nuland was the \u201cmastermind\u201d behind the Feb. 22, 2014 \u201cregime change\u201d in Ukraine, plotting the\u00a0overthrow of the democratically elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych while convincing\u00a0the ever-gullible U.S. mainstream media that the coup wasn\u2019t really a coup but a victory for \u201cdemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/victoria-nuland.jpg?55ac53\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11380\" src=\"http:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/victoria-nuland-300x225.jpg?55ac53\" alt=\"Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Victoria Nuland, who pushed for the Ukraine coup and helped pick the post-coup leaders.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To sell this latest neocon-driven \u201cregime change\u201d to the American people, the ugliness of the coup-makers had to be systematically airbrushed, particularly the key role of neo-Nazis and other ultra-nationalists from the Right Sektor.
